
Doha. Due to escalating security concerns in the Middle East region, major global airlines have diverted and canceled flights heading towards the area.
Passengers have also been issued apologies. Virgin Atlantic announced the cancellation of its VS400 flight from London Heathrow to Dubai. Furthermore, it warned that flights bound for the Maldives, India, and Saudi Arabia might experience significant delays due to rerouting.
British Airways has canceled its flights to Tel Aviv and Bahrain until Wednesday. A flight to Oman was also suspended on Saturday. The Heathrow-Doha BA12 'G' flight, which departed on time at 8 PM Friday night, was ordered to return after completing about one-third of its journey. A few hours later, over 200 passengers landed back in London.
Wizz Air confirmed the suspension of all its flights to Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Oman effective immediately until next Saturday. Flights to Saudi Arabia are reported to remain canceled until Tuesday.
Emirates has also temporarily halted its flight operations. Lufthansa, Air India, and Turkish Airlines have also announced the cancellation of their flights to the region.
